It's a new product that is designed to really cool things
down in the bedroom - but in a very good way. As we sleep -- or try to -- our
body generates heat that is absorbed into our sheets and mattress. The Bedfan
Personal Cooling System removes that heat and eliminates these problems by
delivering a soft flowing breeze all along your body. The Bedfan is an airflow
system that can be placed anywhere along the foot of the bed. The Bedfan is
designed to direct a whisper of air between your top and bottom sheets thus
keeping your bed and body cool. (How Bedfan works:

The Bedfan is capable of moving up to 100 Cubic Feet of air each minute but
can be dialed down to create an incredibly gentle wafting breeze as well. The
unit comes with a compact "Speed Controller" dial that can be placed
under the pillow or on a bedside table allowing for full control of the airflow
rate. The Bedfan is a breeze to use and install, and is designed for an
extremely long service life. Most fans, like a ceiling fan, circulate air
around the room and keep the covers on a bed cooler. Up to now, many people
used oscillating fans or rigged-up clip-on fans to combat the heat problem. But
the Bedfan is the only fan specifically designed to deliver the cool flow of
air right where it is needed. If a couple finds that one sleeps hotter than the
other, the hotter sleeper can use a Bedfan to keep himself or herself cooler
without interrupting the partner's sleep.
"As a hot sleeper myself, I developed the Bedfan Personal Cooling
System with the hopes of lowering my electric bill," says Bedfan inventor
and company President Kurt Tompkins. "The Bedfan was very successful in
allowing me to raise my thermostat at night from 68 degrees to over 78 degrees,
which lowered my electrical consumption by as much as 20%," he says.
"So I was decreasing my carbon footprint, saving money and sleeping
better." Soon Tompkins' mother in-law, who had not slept well for over two
years, due to menopausal night sweats, asked if she could use his protyped
Bedfan -- and he never got it back. "That's when I knew I had to get this
product to the market."
