Hardy Annual. This is a sun-loving border plant which bears daisylike blossoms are bright with toothed petals, often in double layers. They come in shades of orange, maroon, crimson, gold and mahogany, with small, brownish yellow centers. 'Dwarf Dazzler' and 'Dwarf Mixed' are two recommended varieties. Coreopsis blossom profusely over a long flowering season, making a brilliant showing in borders. Deadheading will promote further flowering. They are also grown for their value as long-lasting cut flowers. Coreopsis are among the easiest flowering plants to grow. Seeds may be sown in the fall in warm zones if your soil is well-drained. The combination of high heat and humidity will sometimes cause a lag in flower production.
