Half-hardy Annual. An attractive herbaceous climber with downy stems and dainty, blue, unscented flowers. Viewed at close range they exhibit an exquisite starlike shape. Each silvery blue blossom starts out as a pink bud, turns purple as it fades, and finally becomes lilac. Green fruits appear after the flowers fade and they add some autumn interest as they grow to 6 inches long. May be overwintered in a greenhouse or grown as house plants on sunny window sills during the winter. Trim them moderately in March to induce new growth and use this growth to root cuttings for the garden.
