Hardy Annual. Perennial usually grown as an annual. Blooms are a miniature version of a classic pansy bloom with distinctively marked petals. Effective as a border plant for vegetable beds or flower beds and will self-sow. Some types are nearly or truly black and look charming near the charteuse flowers or leaves of other plants. They have great value as a winter-blooming bedding plant in the tropical climates of Zones 9-11.
