Tender Perennial. This is one of the largest cultivated Dahlias, sometimes growing as high as 10 feet and will need staking. Branches are bamboo-like and the flower heads grow from 4 to 7 inches long. Under ideal conditions, this plant has been known to grow to a height of 20 feet. After flowering is done for the season, cut the plant back to within 6 inches of the ground and mulch well. Dahlias grown from seeds are not as large nor as heat tolerant as the tuber-grown types.
