Plant Type: Perennial Hardy Perennial. The family of meadow rues is large and many of the species in this family have been cultivated for hundreds of years as garden plants. Nevertheless, this plant is still rarely seen in the gardens of today. This species, T. aquilegifolium, is good looking throughout the season with open sprays of small leaved foliage. Light lavender or white fluffy flowers on long stalks completely cover the top in late spring. The leaves are similar to those of a columbine. Cultivation requirements include rich, moist soil and a partially shaded spot. You won't need to divide for 4 to 5 years and only then if required for propagation. Mulch to protect your plants if you divide in autumn. This perennial will need protection from strong winds. |
