Now that the weather is cooler, go up into your attic and check the condition of the insulation. If it is blown-in insulation, you may find that it is piled up in some spots and low in others. Mine gets like this I can only assume that the winds through the vents all summer move it around. Just use a garden rake to level it out. Make sure to wear protective glasses and gloves and a breathing mask over your nose and mouth.
While you are up there, look for any obvious roof leaks or discolored insulation. Even a small roof leak can make the insulation damp. Damp insulation is not effective at all and is actually worse than having no insulation at all.
