Tips for using your clothes dryer

(related column topic links - (651, 823 )

As you know, when you are drying clothes in your dryer, the towels often get tangled together and do not dry thoroughly. Generally you have to put them back in and run them a little longer. In most cases, you just end up overdrying them and running your dryer longer than is actually necessary. This wastes energy.

First, dry heavy bulky items, like towels, separately from your other, normal-weight material items. When drying towels, always include a couple of pieces of netting or tulle. This will allow more dryer air to flow around and through the towels and will also catch some lint. This will reduce overall drying time and the energy used.
